Tuesday, April, 21st, 2015 Old Glideshow Past Programs 2014-2015
On Monday April 6, 2015, the University Chaplaincy invited The Reverend Janet Cooper Nelson, G72 to deliver the annual Russell Lecture on Spiritual Life. We welcome you to view a video of the lecture, including introductory remarks by Tufts Chief of Staff Michael Baenen, by clicking the image.
As Brown University’s Chaplain for twenty-five years this year, the Reverend Janet Cooper Nelson, G72, has introduced a generation of students, faculty, and staff into the relationship between the life of the spirit and the life of the mind in higher education. A pioneer in multifaith university chaplaincy, the Reverend Cooper Nelson transformed the Brown chaplaincy to serve the diverse spiritual needs of the university’s international community, and in doing so became a key leader in the interfaith movement even before its resurgence over the past 15 years.
A graduate of Wellesley, Tufts, and Harvard Divinity School, and a past chaplain at Vassar, Mount Holyoke, and Dartmouth colleges, the Reverend Cooper Nelson speaks around the country on pressing issues of theology, current events, and social justice, as well as serving as a beloved spiritual leader.
