Protestant Chaplain Rev. Dan Bell

Welcome from the Protestant Chaplain

All are welcome. All are valued as part of the community. All are loved by God.

The Protestant Chaplaincy strives to be a radically welcoming and inclusive Christian community. We celebrate our diversity in the Body of Christ as we join for worship, prayer, fellowship, and service to love God and our neighbors.

Thank you for visiting the Protestant Chaplaincy at Tufts University. My name is Reverend Dan Bell and I serve as the Protestant Chaplain at Tufts. I provide pastoral care and support to all members of the university community. I also work closely with the Protestant Students Association (PSA) and other spiritual life groups on our campuses to offer engaging programs throughout the academic year, including worship services, Bible studies, retreats, and service opportunities.

As you explore what the Protestant Chaplaincy has to offer, I hope you will find a warm and welcoming community open to all people and identities. We celebrate the many traditions that make up the Protestant family of faith, and we’re passionate about building an inclusive and justice-oriented Christian community at Tufts. Whether you grew up in church or you’re exploring religion and spirituality for the first time, I would be delighted to get to know you and support you. You can also find the Protestant student community and me on Sunday nights at our weekly Protestant Evening Worship (PEW) services. There is always room for you in the PEW!

I pray that you find a sense of belonging at Tufts as we explore faith, enjoy fellowship, and work together to help make God’s dream for the world come true.

I hope you will explore this site to learn more about us. Feel free to email me at, connect with me on Facebook, or call me at 617.627.2097. You can also visit my Calendly page to find a time to meet. If you would like to receive our weekly e-news during the academic year, please sign up here. I look forward to getting to know you.

I look forward to connecting with you and learning how I can best serve you at Tufts.

Welcome from the Protestant Students Association (PSA)

"Being a part of the Protestant Students Association has been such an unexpectedly wonderful and impactful college experience that I’ll cherish forever. What truly unites all of us are our common core values: unwavering compassion, hard work and the desire to serve others. If you're curious to see what our worship community is like, we would love for you to stop by for a service! We look forward to getting to know you." - Sara Mitchell, A21, Former PSA Executive Board Treasurer

PSA is a community made up of students who identify with the Protestant traditions of Christian faith. We are a progressive interdenominational community that seeks to serve the greater Tufts community and each other in worship, formation, fellowship, and outreach. We celebrate the practice of Radical Welcome, and invite people of every race, color, national and ethnic origin, age, religious background, veteran status, ability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression to bring the fullness of who they are into this community. Check us out on Facebook and Instagram. Please contact student leaders with questions and concerns.
