Difficult Dialogues: A Toolkit for Leading Conversations across Cultures, Politics, and Religions
Saturday, January, 25th, 2014 Past Programs 2013-2014
Friday-Saturday, February 7-8, 2014, 7:30 pm to 1:30 pm, Interfaith Center (58 Winthrop Street)
Join the Tufts University Chaplaincy, CAFE, and CPR for a weekend leadership retreat at the Interfaith Center. In a diverse community like Tufts, we face many difficult dialogues regarding cultural differences, political perspectives, and religious identities when those intersecting identities do not correspond with the views of others. Join various student leaders and future leaders in learning how to approach these dialogues in order to create constructive conversations that help move the community forward in healthy, respectful, educational, and constructive ways. We will begin with dinner, reflection and community building on Friday night and will reconvene on Saturday for a presentation by a leader from the dialogue organization Seeds of Peace, followed by interactive workshops. We will conclude by thinking about next steps for fostering more healthy dialogue at Tufts and how to lead in creating a culture of healthy dialogue. Opportunities for yoga and meditation will also be available. To sign up please click here. Sponsored by the University Chaplaincy, CAFÉ, and a new interfaith effort called CPR, this retreat is intended to help student leaders from different communities think about what healthy dialogue would mean at Tufts and consider and practice some of the skills that would make for healthy dialogue.
