Weddings and Memorials at the University Chaplaincy

The University Chaplaincy  maintains a calendar of open dates for weddings and memorials; there are certain unavailable dates due to University activities (e.g., Labor Day weekend,  Parents’ weekend, Thanksgiving weekend, Winter Recess, Spring Recess, Commencement weekend, and Memorial Day weekend). In addition, the summer is often a time when there is campus construction. A $500 nonrefundable deposit payable to Trustees of Tufts College is required to confirm the rental and any services; within five business days of the scheduled service, the balance is due. The signed contract will be retained by the booking party and the University Chaplaincy administrative coordinator.

Fees for Tufts affiliated and non-affiliated clients are listed below. Affiliated means: current or retired faculty or staff, alumni, current student, child of alumni.

Space rental fee for Goddard Chapel and the Interfaith Center

The fees listed below are for five hours of time total, inclusive of a wedding/memorial and a rehearsal. Parking will be billed separately through Tufts. The fee is the same for Goddard Chapel or the Interfaith Center. The fee does not include the professional services of musicians, a day-of coordinator, or audio visual technician; nor does it include decorations, recording/photography, printing. For weddings or memorials of 100 guests or fewer, one student worker shall be present; for gatherings over 100, two student workers shall be present.

Celebrant fees

The Tufts University Chaplain has first right of refusal as officiant for any special services happening at Goddard Chapel and the Interfaith Center. If seeking the services of a Tufts chaplain, the fee includes three premarital counseling and/or service planning appointments, presiding over a rehearsal, and officiating the ceremony. The celebrant fee will be paid directly to the celebrant.

Musician fees

The Tufts University Chaplaincy Music Director has first right of refusal for all special services hosted in Goddard Chapel and the Interfaith Center. The music director fees are listed out below. The instruments available to clients in Goddard Chapel are piano, organ and carillon. The Interfaith Center has an electronic keyboard. This fee is paid directly to the music director. The fee includes: musical selection and performance of processional, hymns, interlude, and recessional.
