Summer Solstice Celebration
Wednesday, April, 17th, 2019 Events
Our final weekly Humanist Community meeting of the year will be on April 25 beginning at our regular meeting time of 7:30 p.m. in the Interfaith Center. We’ll serve dinner catered by Sugar and Spice. This particular meeting will run a bit longer than usual, until about 9 p.m., to give us time for planning and for reflection.
The first thirty minutes of the meeting will be dedicated to discussing positions of responsibility (Community Liaison, Treasurer, Publicity Coordinator, Secretary, and Interfaith Liaison) for the coming year. Feel free to write to Chaplain Walker if you’re interested in filling any position, though you can also introduce it at the meeting. In the Humanist tradition of social democracy, we’ll both create space for people to volunteer for positions and vote on each during that time. The remainder of our meeting time will be dedicated to celebrating the (upcoming) Summer Solstice by summarizing our experiences since the winter and creating an intention for the summer months. We’ll offer readings as we did for the Winter Solstice celebration, this time celebrating the joys and responsibility that light brings us. All are welcome to join us for the entire meeting and celebration.
