A hand moves, and the fire’s whirling takes different shapes,
Triangles, squares: all things change when we do.
The first word, “Ah,” blossomed into all others.
Each of them is true.

Shunryu Suzuki Roshi once said that sitting a sesshin is like rowing, in a small boat, to the middle of the ocean– and the boat sinks. That could be disturbing, if we identify with the boat– or illuminating, if we identify with the ocean.
