After years of lobbying by student activists and supportive voices in the administration, Tufts has finally established the country’s first university-funded Humanist chaplaincy. Walker Bristol, A14, joins the Chaplaincy staff this year as the first Humanist in Residence. Previously an active member of religious and Humanist life on campus as a student, Walker is now pursuing a Master of Divinity at Harvard Divinity School. He has previously worked with the Humanist Community at Harvard and the Foundation Beyond Belief, and co-edited the atheist-interfaith engagement blog NonProphet Status as well as contributed to the Huffington Post Religion.<\/p>\n

Humanist in Residence Walker Bristol<\/p><\/div>\n

Join Walker and University Chaplain Greg McGonigle next Friday for a conversation surrounding the model of Humanist chaplaincy they’ll be building in the coming year, and exploring what it means to be seeking chaplaincy resources outside of organized religion in modern day America. Lunch will be served and there will be an opportunity both for Q&A with Walker and Greg as well as a meet and greet after the event. It will be held at 12pm on Friday, October 17th in Goddard Chapel. All are welcome to attend.<\/p>\n
