David C. Green, Interim Music Director and Organist

David C. Green was appointed the Tufts University Chaplaincy Interim Music Director and Organist in August 2017.

In this position, he is responsible for directing the University Chaplaincy music program, which includes playing the organ, carillon, and piano for religious services, ceremonies (including weddings and memorial services), and university events; overseeing the care and use of the University Chaplaincy’s musical instruments; and coordinating several special concerts each year, including for Halloween and the Winter Holidays. He plays regularly at the Protestant Evening Worship Service at Goddard Chapel, Sunday evenings at 7 pm during term.

In addition to Tufts University, David is also Director of Music and Organist at the First Baptist Church of Boston, a position he has held since November 2010. At First Baptist, he both directs and accompanies the professional choir and plays the organ for the worship services. He has also served as an organist for various congregations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

David received his master’s degree in organ performance from the Longy School of Music of Bard College, located in Cambridge, MA. While attending, he performed the famous “Organ Symphony” by Saint-Saëns with the Longy Conservatory Orchestra. David completed his undergraduate work at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT.

In addition to church music, David regularly works as a music theatre accompanist in community theatre in the Boston area. He is also a member of the American Guild of Organists.
